Lin Qing

Lin Qing (1911 -1935), formerly known as Li Yuanfang, was born in Bijie county and styled himself as “Surui”and “Maoge”.

 

After graduating from primary school, Lin left to Chongqing to be an actor. In the opera troupe he was influenced by the progressive ideological trend and joined the Communist Youth League at the end of 1926. When Sichuan warlord made the “3·31”massacre of Chongqing in 1927, Lin was arrested. After being rescued from the prison, he was admitted to study in Southwest School of Fine Arts. In 1930, he was sent to Shanghai by CPC organization to work in the Communist Youth League Committee of Hudong district, soon turned to be a member of the CPC. After the incident of “9·18”, Lin organized Chaoyang music society in Shanghai with Miu Zhengyuan(also from Bijie) et al., and carried out the movement of resistance against Japan and salvation the nation from extinction among the workers. In the early winter of 1933, Lin and Miu went back to Bijie and formed Bijie Prairie Art Research Society with their former classmate, Qin Tianzhen, to continue carrying out the movement. In January, 1934, Lin introduced Qin Tianzhen to join the CPC. Then the three members formed the Party branch of Bijie and Lin served as the secretary. Under the leadership of the Party branch, members of the research society developed to more than 200 people and the movement territory was extended to rural areas. In June, 1934, Lin shifted from Bijie to Anshun, Guiyang and other places with the branch members and some activitsts to carry out revolutionary activities. By the end of 1934, more than 10 of the province’s Party branches or groups had been established and over 40 members developed. In January of 1935, after the First Front Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army who were in long march entered Guizhou, Lin passed through many places from Guiyang, Rongjiang and Sinan to Zunyi. He gave a detailed report on the work of Guizhou to Li Weihan, minister of the central organization department and minister of local work department of Red Army General Political Department. On behalf of the Party Central Committee, Li Weihan acknowledged the underground Party of Guizhou and approved the establishment of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, and then appointed Lin Qing the secretary of the provincial working committee(with Deng Zhige and Qin Tianzhen, the committee members) and the Party secretary of Zunyi county. By April ,1935, 11 counties and cities in the province and over 10 schools in Guiyang district had established the CPC county committees, branches or leading groups, which had formed a party organization system with the provincial working committee as the core and led people of all ethnic groups in the province to carry out the anti imperialist and feudal revolutionary struggles. Betrayed by the traitor, the liaison underground departments set in Wanbao Street in Guiyang was broken on July 19,1935 and Lin was arrested. In prison he suffered cruel torture but still stood faithful and unyielding. On September 11, 1935, Lin Qing was murdered and sacrificed his life bravely and gloriously at the age of only 24 years old.
